Changing Cancer Care: The Medicine X and Astellas C3 Prize Live Pitch

Recognizing the need to turn innovative cancer care ideas into real-world solutions, Medicine X is excited to partner with Astellas Oncology to present Changing Cancer Care: The Medicine X C3 Prize Live Pitch on Saturday, September 17 at Medicine X 2016. Five C3 Prize finalists will be flown to Stanford, California to pitch their ideas live on the Medicine X 2016 mainstage. Join us live at Medicine X or follow along on our live stream!

The Astellas Oncology C3 Prize is a challenge aimed at inspiring non-medicine and non-treatment innovation to change cancer care for patients and their loved ones. Applications will close at 11:59:59 P.M. CT on August 8, 2016! We encourage all those in the Medicine X community passionate about changing cancer care to consider applying. Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, provider, or a budding entrepreneur, your idea to change cancer care could become a reality! Application requirements can be found at www.C3Prize.com.

Each finalist will have the opportunity to impress a panel of judges in a live Shark Tank-style session at Medicine X 2016.

Judges for the C3 Prize live pitch event will include: 

Robert Herjavec, Entrepreneur, Founder & CEO, Herjavec Group

Investor on ABC’s Emmy Award-winning hit show Shark Tank, Robert Herjavec is one of North America’s most recognizable business leaders. Robert has used his entrepreneurial expertise to build and sell several IT companies. In 2003, Robert founded Herjavec Group, and it quickly became one of North America’s fastest growing technology companies. Changing cancer care is an important topic for Robert as his mother passed away from ovarian cancer.

Mark Reisenauer, SVP, Astellas

Mark Reisenauer has been Senior Vice President of the Oncology Business Unit at Astellas Pharma US, Inc. since May 2011. A veteran oncology commercial leader, Mark is responsible for all U.S. commercial activities supporting marketed products and Astellas Pharma’s oncology co-promotion partners. He also leads commercial planning for early stage development compounds.

Michael Seres, Medicine X ePatient-in-Residence and Program Executive Board Member, founder of 11Health

A health care social media speaker, adviser and author born in London, Michael was diagnosed at 12 with Crohn’s Disease. After 20 operations and intestinal failure, Michael underwent a rare small bowel transplant in the UK. Prior to transplant, Michael started blogging. His blog is now the official patient blog of the Intestinal Transplant Association. Michael builds online patient communities through social media and launched #IBDChat. He is also the founder of a connected medical device company 11Health, and runs the patient strand of Social Media at the National Health Service, and a UK Ambassador for Doctors 2.0 & You!

Chris Coburn, Vice President, Innovation, Partners HealthCare, host of the World Medical Innovation Forum

    I watched the MedX Live Stream of 5 finalists and it was a great session to listen into. Would you it be possible to get the names of the presenters, a brief synopsis of their pitches, and a potential website link/resource with description their products.
