Description

Everyone Included™| Precision Medicine Initiative

How might diverse groups of health care stakeholders work together to drive co-creation and innovation in education, research, and clinical care? Our Everyone Included™ framework utilizes principles of inclusively to create a culture of health in which everyone is trusted and valued for the expertise that they bring to discussions about the future of health care. Join us to examine how these principles have been instrumental to efforts such as President Obama's Precision Medicine Initiative, and to discuss how building a culture of diversity that is centered around respect can lead to more creative and innovative solutions to the health care problems that matter most.

I was diagnosed aged 12 with the incurable bowel condition
Crohn's Disease. In late 2011 I became the 11th person to undergo a small
bowel transplant in the UK at The Churchill Hospital in Oxford.

I started blogging about his journey through Bowel Transplant and my blog "beingapatient" has over 95,000 followers. I use social media to develop global
on line peer to peer communities covering over 20,000 patients. I am also privileged to develop social media strategies around patient engagement. My passion is mentoring patients and
their families and I am a published author & professional speaker.

I have become the patient lead for #NHSSM, a facilitator for Centre for Patient Leadership
& digital strategy advisor to The Oxford Transplant Foundation where I
helped implement the first skype clinics. I am also founder of health tech start up
11Health.

Nick Dawson believes that healthcare is about humans taking care of other humans, and there’s no other industry like it. He has spent most of his career following his passion for continually improving how we do the work of caring for others.

In his view, patient experiences and staff happiness should be the top priority. When it is, everything else follows.

Today, he is focused on helping health systems develop a modern strategic focus based on human-centered design. When we work openly and collaboratively, always with patients and staff at the center of our work, good things follow—revenue, loyalty, outcomes, quality and happiness.

He also tracks disruptive innovations in healthcare and other industries and works with hospitals to apply the same thinking to their strategic plans.
