Description

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services created the HHS IDEA Lab to be the bridge between an older approach to government and a vision of a new, networked world, where value is found in an individual’s talents and ideas, as opposed to their position in a hierarchical structure. Susannah Fox leads the IDEA Lab (which stands for innovation, design, entrepreneurship, and action). Learn how HHS creates space for innovation within a huge federal agency — both the physical space of a lab, but also the conceptual space that allows people to dream, play, and experiment as they pursue the mission of improving the health of all Americans.

Susannah Fox is the Chief Technology Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In that role she leads the HHS IDEA Lab (which stands for innovation, design, entrepreneurship, and action) and helps the HHS leadership navigate the intersection of health and technology. Prior to her appointment as CTO, Susannah was the Entrepreneur in Residence at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and an associate director at the Pew Research Center, where she directed the health and technology portfolio.
