The idea of using a virus to deliver a therapeutic gene to treat human disease is not a new idea. So why aren’t there more therapies that use this technology? In this course we will discuss the history, progress and modern challenges present in the quest for creating effective gene therapies. From the basic science and ethics to regulatory concerns and business realities, this panel includes a voice from several cross sections of the drug development pipeline. Members of the panel will include world renowned faculty and experts in gene therapy, an empowered parent and founder of a patient foundation, and business experts who understand the regulatory and economic realities that so heavily influence what is possible today and what might be possible tomorrow.
