About Me

Kevin A. Clauson, Pharm.D., is an Associate Professor at Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy in Nashville, TN. He previously served as Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University and as the Founding Director of the Center for Consumer Health Informatics Research, which was the first of its kind designated as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center. Dr. Clauson received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee – Memphis and completed a Research Fellowship at the University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Dr. Clauson has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as abstracts, proceedings and book chapters; most recently serving as an editor for Get the Residency: ASHP’s Guide to Residency Interviews and Preparation. He has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of consumer health informatics, social media in healthcare, and mobile health (mHealth). His research has generated coverage by sources including the New York Times, CBS-TV, Forbes.com, Good Housekeeping, Forskning & Framsteg, and BBC Radio.

Dr. Clauson has consulted for organizations including the World Health Organization, Global Observatory for eHealth, held Advisory Board positions for Stanford Medicine X and Medicine 2.0 @ Harvard, and served as a reviewer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Public Health Informatics, Canada Foundation for Innovation, and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). He has similarly served his profession in capacities including as an Item Writer for the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and as a reviewer and editorial board member for pharmacy and informatics journals. His current research includes mHealth initiatives such as the use of bidirectional text message reminders to improve medication adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes.
