Twenty-seven of Meg’s twenty-eight year health care career has been devoted to improving the lives of people living with cancer. She has founded, owned, operated and sold oncology health care companies. From 2010-2O13, she served as an executive of WellDoc, a pioneering healthcare company that is trailblazing in the space of mobile health. Meg helped with the early work of what will ultimately be WellDoc’s oncology solution. It was through working with WellDoc that Meg fell in love with the possibilities of what technology, and patient generated data, can do to improve health care. Currently, Meg is serving as the CEO of the start-up CanSurround PBC. CanSurround is an exceptionally personalized, innovative web and mobile experience for individuals living with cancer. CanSurround is focused exclusively on helping people learn to reduce needless distress and create emotional well being. CanSurround provides information and inspiration to guide participants toward choices that foster personal growth and healing.
Born of her belief that people living with cancer deserve specialized care at home, Meg’s first company, Oncology Care Home Health Specialists was the first and only oncology specific home care company in the country and delivered hands on multidisciplinary care for almost 17 years. It was in this setting, that Meg experienced an “in the homes and in the arms” view of the emotional toll that the cancer experience places on the patient and family. Today, Oncology Care is a national company focused on delivering a comprehensive, turnkey solution for community-based health care providers seeking to implement cancer specialty programs.
Viewed as a national expert in the field of oncology home care services, Meg has influenced legislation and clinical practice in this sector. She has served in leadership positions on numerous, national and local boards and industry-specific initiatives over the last 28 years, and has been a founding board member of several thriving non-profit organizations including Cancer Care Connection, a remarkable cancer coaching and referral service.
Since 2003, appointed by two Governors of Delaware, Meg has chaired the Environmental Committee for the Delaware Cancer Consortium. She also founded and chairs the Delaware- based “Living with Cancer Fund,” which gives financial assistance to cancer patients who are struggling to meet their basic daily needs. Meg received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from The University of Delaware.
The theme of Meg’s professional life has been to ease people’s pain and suffering. She derives great personal satisfaction from helping people through intensely difficult chapters in their lives and guiding them to find meaning and growth from the experiences. She lives in Landenberg, Pennsylvania with her wonderful family and super cool dog.
