I am Dr. Brian Stork, a private practice urologist at West Shore Urology in Muskegon, Michigan. In addition to being a community urologist, I am also an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Urology at the University of Michigan.
I practice general urology, however, I have a special interest in treating urinary stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia, incontinence, benign and malignant conditions of the kidney, and prostate cancer.
West Shore Urology is proud to be part of a network of private practice and academic centers from around the State actively participating in the Michigan Urology Surgical Improvement Collaborative.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am actively engaged in social media. Social Media, I believe, is an exciting tool that can be used to improve health care literacy and the patient experience.
I regularly post updates about my community and my practice on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Linked In and Google Plus. I also make regular posts on my patient blog, physician blog and, from time to time, write guest posts for other blog sites.
A year or so ago, I joined with colleagues from around the world to start the International Urology Journal Club on Twitter (#Urojc). I am now honored to serve on the American Urological Association Social Media Work Group and the Urology Care Foundation Publications and Technology Committee. Finally, each year in the month of November, I enjoy participating in Movember, a global mustache growing charity to support awareness and research for Men’s Health.
A couple of years ago my partner, Dr. Salisz, underwent surgery for an aggressive form of prostate cancer and was left with a urostomy. Dr. Salisz is now a physican advocate for ostomy patients around the world and has created an innovate product called StomaCloak. As Social Media Director for StomaCloak, I am honored to be able to assist him in his mission to improve the care and quality of life of ostomy patients, or ostomates.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, beekeeping, fishing and living in and exploring Michigan. At times, you will find me writing about Spirituality and the many things I love about my community and the State of Michigan.
I hope you find ongoing value in visiting this site and I wish you the very best of health.
