An app that brings your doctor to your door: the Heal experience, year one
February 2015 marked the launch of
Heal, a revolutionary means of getting medical attention on demand.
Based in Santa Monica, California, Heal's app and business were created in only three months. Patients simply open the app and request an adult medicine doctor or a pediatrician. Within one hour, the doctor arrives with a medical assistant and equipment. A flat fee covers the visit, and patients can begin an ongoing, personalized relationship with their favorite Heal doctors. It's the polar opposite of the impersonal, unsatisfying experience of visiting an urgent care center and having to explain who you are from the beginning.
In this presentation, I will discuss the conception and execution of Heal, a medical startup that is clinically oriented. I will also discuss the experience of this "Lyft for doctors" model from a patient and physician perspective. We will include any auditing and 360 degree review data that we have collected by the time MedX begins. These may include patient and provider experiences, pitfalls, technological opportunities and limitations, and key drivers of success. A focus will be the elimination of barriers between doctors and patients (insurance companies, office and ER clerical staff, functional issues such as transportation) and the implications for the future of medical practice.
