Co-Creating Products for Young People with Cancer

Ashley Pandya apandya@hopelab.org

Abstract

As health innovators in this MedX community, we are guided by the same purpose: to design the most impactful digital health solutions. This panel explores how a patient-centric design process may lead to better product design and, in turn, better health outcomes. Involving patients early on in the product development cycle may also lead to broader adoption and engagement. This panel examines the process from three unique perspectives: the patient, the designer, and the hospital. We’ll hear a young cancer survivor speak about her experience trying to navigate the health care system. We’ll learn how designers include patients and other stakeholders in the product development process. We’ll hear how hospitals are creating structural change and reimagining new health care systems. The panel will conclude with a robust, audience-involved discussion.
