shared decision making workshop

Shared Decision Making

Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 1 PM in Paul Brest Hall, Stanford University.

You make decisions every day. Some are good; some are not as good. Did you know there is a science to decision making that can help people make better decisions more often? In collaboration with Eli Lilly, Medicine X will facilitate a half-day design workshop about improving decision making for patients and providers.

It takes two to tango: how shared decision making can help patients and providers make better decisions together

Come learn a practical framework for improving your decision making, and be prepared to try it out on actual decisions you and other participants face. For this workshop we will zero-in on techniques for gaining clarity about our values and preferences—the things we care most about. Only after being clear about these, and integrating them with science and medicine, can the truly “best” treatment choice for an individual patient be selected. Additionally, after learning and practicing these methods, you will have an opportunity to brainstorm and share your thoughts on how to take this methodology from the realm of research to everyday practice. Come learn, experience, and share!
