Technology discovery at Medicine X

 In Genesis, Technology Discovery

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” –Albert Einstein

I have always been drawn to the intersection of technology, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. As an entrepreneur, I can relate to the excitement of taking an idea to market. I learned the importance of a great team that can execute well and adapt to obstacles. As Director of Technology Discovery for Stanford Medicine X, I am fortunate now to be in a position to scout for promising entrepreneurs innovating technologies that will shape the future of medicine.

My undergraduate training was in biology and computer science. I worked as a healthcare quality consultant before medical school. Prior to residency I completed my masters in medical informatics. I have always enjoyed the synergies between all three domains. I am currently on faculty at Stanford University and have the privilege of practicing as an anesthesiologist.

As Director of Technology Discovery for Medicine X, my role is to scout for innovative technologies that will shape the future of medicine. I am building an interdisciplinary team involving engineers, entrepreneurs, clinicians, and technocrats who have an eye for spotting promising technologies. If you are interested in joining our technology discovery team or would like to share your ideas about technology and medicine with Stanford Medicine X, please reach out to me. I can’t do this alone, and would love to hear your story!

We will be highlighting the best technologies we find here on this Medicine X blog, and of course at our 2012 Stanford Medicine X conference!
