Mr. Randall D. Block, (“Randy” in the U.S.), is a Commercialization Director in Business Development with Intermountain Healthcare, a Utah-based, not-for-profit system of 22 hospitals, 185 clinics, 39,000 employees, a Medical Group with 1,300 employed physicians, a health plans division called SelectHealth, and other health services. At Intermountain he leads the evaluation, development and commercialization of new transformative technology and business opportunity projects. He also directs the Foundry Program, an internal accelerator designed to advance employee innovations that will significantly improve the quality and cost of care while driving commercial returns. Prior to Intermountain he was a Founder, Director, and COO of Larada Sciences, a University of Utah spin-out that develops and globally markets novel medical devices and services. He previously founded three other successful technology-based start-ups and has over 25 years of experience commercializing emerging technologies and medical products. As a business and technology leader, he has been responsible for the successful development of nearly 20 commercial products and services that have collectively improved millions of lives while generating hundreds of millions in revenue, and his innovations have been awarded many patents and awards. Mr. Block holds dual B.S. degrees in Biology and Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Tech University and a Master’s degree in Bioengineering from the University of Utah.
